I was pleased to have the opportunity to spend a few days in northern Italy, beginning on the last day of September 2019. The first place I visited was Milan (Italian: Milano), capital of the administrative region of Lombardy (Lombardia). Milan is the second most populous city in Italy after Rome, and it also has one of the largest city economies in Europe. This was only my second short visit, the first one having taken place eight years previously. I didn't see a huge amount this time around, due to lack of time, but I did manage to make my first visit inside the great Duomo.
