Rapperswil
Rapperswil is a picturesque town on the eastern side of Lake Zurich. It lies a little over 20 miles from the city, at the point where the lake has been divided in two by the Seedamm dam and bridge. The town is best known for its castle, monastery, old town area and rose gardens. It is easily accessible by frequent local trains and, in the summer season, by lake boats.
Einsiedeln
The small town of Einsiedeln is situated in the rolling hills of the Schwyz canton, on the opposite bank of Lake Zurich from Rapperswil, a short distance from the Sihlsee. It is dominated by an imposing Benedictine abbey complex which for many years was considered to be an important place of pilgrimage. Einsiedeln is easily reached from Rapperswil, thanks to the Seedamm road and rail crossing.
