February 2008 : Old San Juan
Part 2 of my visit to Puerto Rico was based on the little island occupied by Old San Juan, first of all in the company of other Do participants and later on my own.
Old Town
Old San Juan seems to offer never-ending opportunities for taking photographs - not that I need much encouragement! You would have to be very hard to please, not to be impressed by the colourful architecture in the bustling little streets.
Fuerte San Felipe del Morro
This fort, better known simply as El Morro, occupies the western tip of Old San Juan and, in its day, protected the approach into the bay.
La Fortaleza
I was honoured to be given a personal guided tour
of the Governor's residence. (Oh, alright then, it was a public tour
and I was the only one who turned up
)
Castillo San Cristobal
This castle is Old San Juan's second fortification, situated on the island's northern shore.
Puerto Rico Capitol
As with so many other parts of the US, the Capitol building is well worth a visit.
