This is: Waves, Wine & Warmth (2018)
This was our unplanned day at sea, following the cancellation of our scheduled call at Astoria, Oregon due to bad weather. The rough seas had continued overnight, and now it was Bruce's turn to feel a bit rough. I felt fine, but I also knew that with the continuing heavy weather, the bad feelings would probably return as the previous night's pills wore off. This time, we both went to the medical centre before heading for breakfast in Horizon Court. As an illustration that I felt fine, I had cereal followed by bacon, sausage, fried eggs and an American biscuit. Afterwards, we picked up coffee to go, at the International Café.
We tried to attend a cookery demonstration at 10:30, but the huge Princess Theater was absolutely full! It was obviously shaping up to be another lazy day, catching up with trip notes, reading and - perhaps somewhat dangerously - browsing the Princess Cruises brochure. We had a rather dodgy burger lunch on Lido Deck, then it was more of the same - lazing around, that is. The sea was starting to calm down a bit by now. We spent a very lazy afternoon lounging around in the cabin, as the entire ship seemed to be absolutely crowded. It was interesting to note on our TV screen that the ship was describing a large oval shape, heading back south and then retracing our course northwards in order to avoid getting massively ahead of schedule.
ABOVE: Dinner at the Amalfi dining room. The second picture does not appear to satisfy the classic criteria for a balanced main course! |
In due course we changed for dinner. (It wasn't a formal night, but we still have our standards.) We went to CCEPHH in Skywalkers for a cheeky Boulevardier and then had seconds in the Wheelhouse Bar. Dinner was again in the Amalfi dining room. It was Italian night, and the waiters were turned out in their Venetian Gondolier outfits.
After dinner, we visited the casino for the second time on this cruise, and lost some more money.
