This is: Spring Fever 2008
It had been a very busy three days at home - no great surprise when I reveal that this whole trip occurred in the middle of a late-running, major redecorating project! Although I'd been completely preoccupied with other matters from Wednesday to Friday, Saturday brought the familiar buzz that meant I was off again!
Cautious chap that I am, I set off nice and early for Glasgow Airport. Why Glasgow, rather than Edinburgh? It was all a question of connecting flights for the homeward journey : Glasgow worked, Edinburgh didn't. Rather than endure the almost inevitable hold-ups on the M8 in Central Glasgow, I took the longer but infinitely more scenic country route. I found my chosen secure car park easily enough and arrived at the airport by transfer bus some two hours prior to my flight's scheduled departure time. To my astonishment, it resembled a ghost town! It was almost completely deserted, both landside and airside. I was initially the only guest in the BA Lounge, although this did change.

My checked luggage appeared reasonably quickly at Gatwick and in no time at all I was aboard the transit to the High Temple of Southern Chavdom, also informally known as the South Terminal , from where it was an easy walk to the Hilton.
