InterContinental The Barclay, New York
A traditional hotel, just off Park Avenue and round the corner from the Waldorf Astoria, and which bore some similarities to The Willard in Washington DC. I was very happy with my upgrade, although a corner location on the fourth floor did mean lots of extraneous noise from horn-honking at all hours. (Is this a way of life with New York drivers?) The in-room Internet access ran at lightning speed and both televisions were directly linked to PCs - something I'd never seen before. The "Big Apple" breakfasts are to die for, but not exactly cheap.
