Round The World and other travels

A frequent flyer's collection of trip diaries

May 2019: Seville

Seville (Spanish: Sevilla) is the capital of Andalusia (Spanish: Andalucía), the southernmost autonomous community in mainland Spain. Originally founded as the Roman city of Hispalis, it came under Muslim control in the 8th century before joining Christian Castile in the thirteenth century. Today, the city is the fourth largest in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

I had visited on two previous occasions: once in the 1980s and more recently in 2011. This short return was prompted by the amazing Iberia promotion of 2018. Buying some short domestic hops within Spain was obviously the cheapest way of qualifying for the generous bonuses on offer - the ones that took Bruce and me on a highly successful trip to Mexico two months previously. I could easily have thrown my short-hop tickets away with the transatlantic trip safely completed, but I'm more of a have-tickets-will-travel kind of guy!

There was no time to take in any indoor attractions on this short visit, so it's just as well that the weather was excellent!
