We had only one full day available in Cape Town, but fortunately it was blessed with beautiful Autumn weather : strong sunshine, a cloudless sky and only the gentlest of breezes.
Table Mountain
First stop was Table Mountain, in a bid to avoid the long queues that usually develop for the cable cars. It was only on making the ascent that I clearly remembered that this was my first time - on my previous visit to Cape Town in 1995, the weather had declined to play along and I'd had to be content with a stroll along the road at the cable car base station. This time around, however, the early morning sunshine made for ideal conditions. It wasn't even cold at the top.
Signal Hill
Next, we asked our taxi driver to make a brief stop at the Signal Hill viewpoint.
The Waterfront
Our final destination before enjoying some pre-dinner relaxation was the lively and colourful Waterfront area.
