A happy coincidence

I got up a little earlier today, having realised that I was already well rested and not wanting to be completely lazy. As a result, breakfast at Feast was a much quieter affair. Unfortunately, the previous day's weather had disappeared and it was raining again. I spent much of the morning reading and, as expected, the phone rang at 11am. I had learned before leaving home that, quite remarkably, Bruce had realised that he had two friends in the Maldives at the same time. Not only that, we had both decided to stay at the Sheraton! So it was no surprise at all when I picked up the phone and a voice said: "Hello, this is Phil."

In the hope that the weather would improve before then, we agreed to meet up for the beach barbeque run by the Anchorage Bar on Monday evenings.

As had now become my standard practice, I took lunch at Sand Coast. I spotted a long table on my way in and was relieved to see that it was being cleared. One of the waiters read my mind in an instant: "You're in luck - they've gone!" The weather cleared up for a while in the afternoon, so I managed to get out for a walk and used my balcony for a while to read.

Phil called again at 5pm to say that the beach barbeque had been cancelled due to the weather. It was no real surprise. With a little input from myself on the relative merits of Sand Coast and Baan Thai for an evening meal, we arranged to have dinner in the latter at 7pm. We had no difficulty at all in spotting each other and I had an excellent dinner in equally excellent company.   Interestingly, although western people had in the main dressed smartly for the restaurant, at least two Asian men were refused entry after turning up in beach shorts, flip-flops and singlet-type tops with exposed shoulders. What were they THINKING?!

As requested by the hotel, I settled my bill in readiness for departure the following morning.
