Flight Log 5: US2866

Flagstaff (FLG) - Phoenix (PHX)

I managed to be first to board the Dash 8 and as the other passengers followed, an announcement from the flight deck gave the expected flying time as a mere 35 minutes, at 15,000ft. Boarding was complete by 1505 and the excellent news was that 3A remained empty. We left our stand exactly on-schedule, but had an unexpected delay at the runway holding point (perhaps just waiting for our allocated slot?), so that it was 1517 before we became airborne.

In view of the very short flight time, there was no cabin service. I passed the time by reading and simply looking out of the window. Some twenty minutes into the flight, a further announcement warned that it was going to get bumpy on the way into Phoenix, but that we would try to avoid the worst of the weather. We flew past the airport and over the city, in preparation for U-turn to the left. Touchdown was just prior to 4pm and we were on-stand in less than five minutes, giving a comfortably ahead-of-schedule arrival.

Overall, a routine short hop and a perfectly reasonable experience.
