London Heathrow (LHR) - Edinburgh (EDI)
Boarding started at 1540 and, as with my EDI-LHR flight that began the trip, I noted that there were BA cabin crew travelling as passengers. This seemed to suggest that BA was still having problems on its domestic runs. The cabin was well presented and the aircraft had the nice new leather seats. Doors were closed at 1555, but the Captain said that a ten-minute wait would be required before we could depart. In the event we pushed back just before the scheduled time at 1608. With the lengthy taxi to 09R and quite horrendous queues for the runway, however, we didn't manage to take off until 1645. Heathrow displaying its weaknesses again, sadly
The meal box contained two chicken and sweetcorn sandwiches (I could have had cheese), a pack of fresh apple pieces and a flapjack. I drank coffee and diet Pepsi. Fresh milk was offered as an alternative to the little carton of cream in the box. As we headed into Scotland, I couldn't help noticing small patches of snow on the Southern Uplands, indicating that the weather hadn't improved much in my time away. As we lined up for the boring approach over West Lothian (compared to the spectacular one over the city and the Forth), we were offered boiled sweets. We touched down at 1740 in better-than-expected weather and it took a mere three minutes to get us onto stand.
