InterContinental, Dubai

The InterContinental was the first five star hotel in Dubai, having
been built in 1975 - although I think it was originally the building
next door. Just a snippet I picked up from the tour bus commentary!
Anyway, another very nice IC. I wasn't greeted as a Royal
Ambassador, but was upgraded to a most acceptable Junior Suite, with
an extraordinarily spacious bathroom. Club access was not provided.
My welcome gift was a business card holder. The hotel has a good
reputation for its restaurants, which are reckoned to be among the
finest in Dubai. I sampled the Palm Court ("contemporary
steakhouse") and the Fishmarket ("fresh seafood restaurant") and
would rate the steakhouse as excellent and the seafood restaurant as
probably the finest example of its type that I have ever encountered
