This is: Round The World 2006-07
Dallas Ft Worth (DFW) - San Antonio (SAT)
As I settled into 3A, which is actually the front row on the Super 80, I thought that the cabin had a fresher feel to it than on the 757s. I don't know their relative ages; that's just how it seemed to me. It was a full flight. The doors were closed at 0925, although luggage was still being loaded at this time. There were no pre-departure drinks on this short hop. We pushed back ahead of schedule at 0932 and made our way out to 18L for a 0947 take-off, with that characteristic rear-engined whoosh. The expected flight time was announced as 40 minutes.
The service consisted of a drink - I had apple juice - and a small bag of "premium snack mix". Errrm ... that was it! (Although at least I managed two of each.) I thought they might have managed something more substantial at breakfast time. By comparison, the BA shuttle routes manage a full cooked breakfast and the Gatwick to Jersey and Dublin routes do a Club Europe meal service all day. I didn't feel particularly put out, however, because I was very clear in my own mind that by booking this YUP fare in F for such a short hop, I was simply buying some cheap BA Executive Club tier points
The seat belt signs stayed on, although it wasn't bumpy at all. Mints were distributed for landing. We touched down at SAT at 1028 and, as we taxied to the terminal, I was intrigued by the sight of an old Virgin 747 parked at a remote spot on the apron. Arrival was slightly ahead of schedule at 1032.
