This is: Portugal - California 2004
After largely escaping the threat on the Friday, today the cloud cover moved in. It was a chilly morning, with no hint of sunshine to counteract the cool wind. After a light breakfast, I began my day's sightseeing by getting a trolleybus out to Alamo Square, home of the well-known Victorian coloured wooden houses to be seen on many a picture postcard. I'm not sure where they all came from, but just as I arrived, a whole group of tourists also turned up seemingly out of nowhere. I took a few pictures in the dull conditions and made for my next objective.
I had hoped to do a boat trip either to Tiburon or to Tiburon and Sausalito combined, but on examining the schedule decided that a Sausalito round trip was the only viable option. I sat inside for most of the journey, which from previous experience, can be cool enough even in direct sunshine. I have to say I didn't do terribly much when I got there, other than have a quick look around and eat some lunch. However it did look as though the sun was managing to break through at last, as I boarded the ferry for my return to the city.
Inevitably, this took me back to the Fisherman's Wharf area which, it being the weekend, was at its busiest and - let's be honest - tackiest. It didn't take long before I was keen to return to the sanity of Nob Hill and have a short rest. I ended my explorations of the city by making an easy trip down to the Ferry Building for a look around inside a building that I had seen so often from the outside.
