January 2011: Muscat
My second visit to the capital of Oman had one
thing in common with the first: for various reasons, I didn't do
much in the way of sightseeing. It was no great surprise this time
around, as the main purpose of the trip was to celebrate New Year in
luxurious and warm, sunny surroundings, with a group of like-minded
frequent flyers. The highlight of the trip was a blowout New Year
party in the branch of Trader Vic's adjacent to the InterContinental
- perhaps it's just as well that there are no pictures of the event
itself!
Three of us made a short foray to the old port area of Mutrah, with its well-known souq, on January 2nd.
Reason for visit: to bring in New Year in style with other UK-based frequent flyers.
