Round The World and other travels

A frequent flyer's collection of trip diaries

July 2008 : London

I had another most enjoyable weekend in London, a destination of which I never seem to tire, despite visiting it on a regular basis for more years than I care to remember! Besides what I've illustrated below, other highlights included a pre-theatre dinner with friend Ross and a performance of Pygmalion at the Old Vic.

Tower

There's so much to see near the Tower of London : All Hallows, Trinity Square, the Tower itself, the world-famous bridge and St Katharine's Dock.

South Bank East

A short walk across Tower Bridge and I could hardly believe the changes! HMS Belfast used to be awkward to access; now the Queen's Walk guides the visitor right along this previously neglected part of the South Bank to visit the famous warship, as well as City Hall, More London, Hay's Galleria, the Golden Hinde, Southwark Cathedral, Vinopolis, Shakespeare's Globe, the Tate Modern and more.

Little Venice to Regent's Park

So-called Little Venice, part of Maida Vale, is a pleasant area for a stroll. You can cruise Regent's Canal to Camden Lock, from where it is a short walk to another great London attraction, Regent's Park.
