This is: Canada & Mexico 2011
I woke up around 0840, without assistance from any kind of alarm. As ever at a property such as this, we opted for a room service breakfast. The main event of the morning was a spa treatment: I was booked in at 1000 and Bruce was due to follow at 1100. I strolled down to the separate, red building close to Reception at the appointed time and selected the Aloe Vera massage. It was a thoroughly relaxing hour in the care of therapist Martha and I felt wonderfully relaxed afterwards. I had a wander around the estate while Bruce was in and then read for a while.
We had lunch in the hotel restaurant and were able to sample the delightful option of a Margarita de Tamarindo again. Following a pattern established at Campeche, except that there had been no walking around town on this occasion, we then had a short siesta.
We went to the pool shortly before 5pm, when the baking conditions were beginning to moderate just a little. Once again, I made full use of the pool until I felt that I might be in danger of turning into a prune! It felt really cool and fresh coming out of the water. Then it was back to the room for a short rest and a change into suitable clothes for the evening, before having pre-dinner cocktails at a rather isolated table under the large tree beside Reception.
It felt suddenly warm and sticky again in evening clothes and the situation wasn't helped when I appeared to be under attack from a mutant black butterfly! We then had a nice dinner in the restaurant, although I was unable to finish my main course. Service was good, except that the waiters habitually left the door open, spoiling the much-needed effect of the air conditioning.
After all the sightseeing that we had managed to do so far on the trip, it was most agreeable to spend an entire day simply relaxing in the Hacienda's exclusive and luxurious surroundings.
