Sheraton Full Moon Resort & Spa, Maldives
Like all similar resorts in the Maldives, the
Sheraton Full Moon occupies its own private island. Unlike most of
the competition, air transfers are not required as the hotel is just
a fifteen-minute speedboat ride away from Malé
Airport. As an SPG Gold member, I was upgraded from a standard room
to an Island Cottage. Located a few steps from one of the island's
beaches, this had a spacious and private fully-detached design. It
featured a most unusual bathroom which appeared to have one wall
missing; in its place a short path led to an open-air shower
surrounded by high stone walls.
More generally, the property consisted of an arrivals pavilion, reception area, a varied selection of restaurants (only one of which was fully indoors and air-conditioned), an extensive collection of over-water 'bungalows', a pool area and a number of beaches, and finally a spa.
