This is: The Portuguese Connection (2012)
Marriott, Lisbon
The Lisbon Marriott is an imposing four-star property in the city's new financial quarter. It is very much a business-oriented hotel and, with its own Congress Centre, has been recognised as Portugal's leading conference hotel. We were staying there as a result of one of Bruce's classic deals, the nightly rate when split between two people amounting to a pittance. As if that weren't enough, we were also upgraded to an Executive room and given full access to the club lounge.
From a tourist perspective, the hotel is handy for the airport but is otherwise not in the most convenient location. Access to the rest of the city involves taking a ten-to-fifteen minute walk (or a local bus) to the Zoo metro station, a walk which is downhill all the way in the morning and fairly steeply uphill at the end of the day. Nevertheless, we thought that this was a most attractive hotel. The club lounge put out a nice spread for breakfast, although the happy hour offering in the evening was run-of-the-mill. We especially liked the lobby bar, which had an upmarket feel, was well stocked and had friendly and highly competent staff.
