This is: The Portuguese Connection (2012)
London Heathrow (LHR) - Edinburgh (EDI)
The flight had been showing a revised departure time of 1535 on the airport screens, so boarding didn't get underway until 1515. Once everybody was on and seated, it became clear that 1B was going to remain unoccupied - a nice bonus on a somewhat chaotic day. Although we appeared to be ready for departure at the revised time, the captain announced that several passengers had been off-loaded - the reason wasn't given - and their bags would therefore have to be located and removed from the flight. Needless to say, this all took time.
We finally pushed back at 1603, nearly an hour adrift from the published timetable. It took a full 25 minutes to get airborne, eventually climbing away from Runway 27R into the increasingly gloomy skies. At this time of year, darkness falls early and quickly. When the service trolley appeared I had a tomato juice with the customary ice, spice and a slice, together with a glass of water and a tiny packet of 'Real' crisps.
The flight proceeded on a fairly routine basis, touching down in darkness at Edinburgh and arriving at the gate 55 minutes late. It wasn't the greatest note on which to end over 17,000 miles of flying, but nor was it any kind of disaster.
