This is: Spring Fever 2008
Doha (DOH) - Bahrain Manama (BAH)
The first class cabin on the A320
consisted of three rows of large seats in 2+2 formation -
reminiscent of Domestic First in the USA, only modern
For my second short sector on Qatar Airways, I was once again
offered a welcome drink. This time, however, Champagne was included
in the selection. I'll leave you to guess what I had
Again as previously, this was followed by dates and Arabic coffee
and by the choice of hot or cold towels. Boarding was complete at
1250 and we pushed back at 1255. I noticed that people were still
using mobiles and iPods at the runway holding point, although I
think the mobiles were switched off when the 'bings' sounded. As for
the others, clearly they thought that whatever they were listening
to was more important to them than any possible evacuation
instructions
We took off just before a quarter past one.
The small meal consisted of a chicken croissant
sandwich and salad, accompanied by water, although I noticed that
some passengers requested alternative soft drinks. My seatmate was a
tad annoying : Western dress, including surgically attached baseball
cap, and a fully paid-up member of the Angry Young Men / Caged
Animals / Explosive Bundles of Energy club. Every couple of minutes
he was stamping his heel on the floor a few times, then punching his
armrest, then doing the heel thing again. For heaven's sake, why
can't some people just sit back and relax?
In-flight entertainment - apart
from the antics of my seatmate
- consisted of an amusing Pink Panther
cartoon. We touched down on BAH's 30R at 1341 and were on stand just
five minutes later.
