London Heathrow (LHR) - Edinburgh (EDI)
I was greeted by a friendly FA in very traditional looking hat and gloves as I stepped aboard the EMB-145. Boarding, which was via the aircraft's own steps, was completed ten minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. We pushed back exactly on time, although the Captain said it would be some 20 minutes before we could get airborne. We made our way slowly to 27R and took off at 13 minutes past the hour. It was interesting to watch the 2 cabin crew get the Business Class service underway, before attending to the sale of snacks and beverages to the rest of us. I bought a pack of sandwiches (roast chicken and lemon mayonnaise with mixed leaf salad, on malted brown), a small pack of Pringle's crisps and a diet coke.
In fairly clear conditions, albeit with lots of small, fluffy-looking clouds, we passed close to Manchester and Carlisle as we headed northwards. As we approached EDI, it was clear that the tradition of the boiled sweet for landing lives on at bmi. Having left LHR exactly on schedule, we touched down on EDI's westerly runway at 1407 and, almost unbelievably in present-day conditions, arrived on stand precisely on schedule at 1410.
