This is: Round The World 2006-07
London Heathrow (LHR) - Edinburgh (EDI)
This was a fairly routine, busy domestic shuttle run. Boarding was complete by 1510 and we pushed back pretty much on schedule to make our way round to 27L. As my arrival had been before 1500 and this departure was after that time, the arrival and take-off runways had been swapped. There wasn't much of a wait for the runway, and by 1527 we were accelerating along 27L and making that special 757 steep climb that I enjoy so much.
With this being Good Friday, the start of the Easter weekend, the forward cabin was unusually packed with families, but thankfully the little darlings <cough> were very well-behaved. Although BA has restored proper meals on the shuttle at normal mealtimes, flights scheduled between these times are still serving either a cup of tea / coffee and a biscuit or a cold drink and packet of crisps. I had a glass of apple juice and a packet of the excellent Burt's handmade crisps. Personally I have no problem with the current catering policy on the shuttle runs, but it might not suit business travellers, who may have been relying on the flight for the opportunity to grab something to eat.
It was a beautiful day for flying and it was just a shame that I was on the wrong side as we passed over the Firth of Forth for the big left turn and the westerly approach into EDI. I did get some good views of the Fife coast and the bridges as compensation, however. We made a rather solid touchdown at 1626 and pulled onto stand at 1631.
