This is: Round The World 2006-07
I was up and about by 0730 and it was already clear that it was going to be glorious day. I had in mind a self-concocted grand tour of the New Territories and Lantau Island, trying to take in some of the more traditional sights. I really put my Octopus card through its paces - I won't go into all the details, but suffice to say that my main objectives were Miu Fat monastery and Ching Chung Koon in the New Territories, and Po Lin monastery (with its famous 'Big Buddha') on Lantau.
I started out on my grand plan at about 0845 and didn't get back until around 1730 - a very full day's sightseeing! Ten years ago, it wouldn't have been possible to include Lantau in such a plan - it used to be a remote island, reached only by ferry. That changed to some extent when the new airport opened and nowadays the island is a contrasting mixture of modern development and the way it used to be. I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking ...
