A wonderful bird is the pelican, |
His bill holds more than his belican. |
He can take in his beak |
Enough food for a week, |
And I'm darned if I know how the helican. |

I spent a most enjoyable week in Naples in November 2004 and was happy to be revisiting such a civilised spot in southern Florida. That said, I was in no particular hurry to get up, and so enjoyed a good rest, before eventually heading downstairs to sample the hotel's in-house breakfast offering. When I eventually got going, I decided to begin the day with a quick burst of shopping at the Prime Outlets Village. That accomplished, I drove towards central Naples and parked at Tin City, a kind of boardwalk-style mix of restaurants, tourist shops and departure points for various bay cruises and the like. I walked around for a bit, before having a traditional fish and chips lunch at one of the restaurants. I then booked myself on the 2pm bay cruise operated by the Double Sunshine, which I'd watched come in from my lunch table. It was an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours in the afternoon sun, especially so with the local pelicans providing added entertainment value.
After the bay cruise, I drove back to the hotel, caught up with the latest news from home and relaxed for a bit. In the evening I drove back into central Naples and parked outside the Trianon Hotel, which had been my base during my previous visit. I had dinner in one of the less-packed places on Fifth Avenue, then drove back to the hotel to continue with the relaxation theme.
