Planes, Trains & Automobiles - The Sequel

Arrival at Heathrow's ageing Terminal 3 was a good experience: there was lots of space in which to move and it felt nice not be caught up in human gridlock. All too soon, it was time for Bruce's path and mine to go their separate ways, but we both knew that in a few short months we'd be meeting up again in this very terminal for the start of the next adventure.
The shuttle bus to Terminal 5 was crowded and the whole transfer experience went sharply downhill on arrival there. It took what felt like ages to get through the UK border and the security checkpoint. Eventually I was able to make my way to BA's Galleries First lounge and reacquaint myself with its occasionally funky decor (right). Having recently enjoyed a hearty breakfast courtesy of American Airlines, I wasn't sufficiently hungry to indulge in any of the lounge's food offerings. I simply passed the time reading until it seemed like a good idea to head for the north side domestic gates.

I was back in my native land shortly before 6pm and it was a familiar and easy journey home from the airport. It felt good to be home again at the end of another fabulous trip that had generated so many new memories to add to the vast collection on continual, random replay inside my head.
