This is: New Year in India (2016/17)
We had already decided in advance that this was going to be a nice, easy-going 'pool day'. It started off with another hotel breakfast, this one thankfully somewhat less chaotic than Wednesday's. The rest of the available daylight hours were spent lounging by the pool. In my case, most of this time was dedicated to writing up my first detailed notes about the trip so far, which meant recording more than three full days of activities. I resolved to try to keep more up-to-date throughout the remainder of the trip!

Taking a rest from Indian food in the interests of variety, we enjoyed a poolside lunch of burgers and fries, washed down with cold beer. I promptly - and these days, all too predictably - fell asleep afterwards. We decided around 5:30pm that as far as the good life was concerned, enough was enough. This was just prior to sunset, which probably meant another imminent onslaught by the ravenous mosquitoes.

After relaxing in the room for a while, we set out
for the evening at 7:30. Following an initial wander, we settled on
the Jazz Inn, in the interests of having a change of venue. It was a very
popular place, but the live band had nothing whatsoever to do with
jazz! They played a fairly constant repertoire of what I described
as "standard wedding fare", with the accent on country music. At
times, it almost felt like being back on our Nashville visit of 2014! The
food was good, with one dish (sausage chilli fry, based on chorizo)
reminding us of Spain rather than underlining our presence in India.
It was a fun evening, in a somewhat package-holiday kind of way. I
was impressed with the liveliness of a large group of seventy-somethings, who seemed
to be in fine party form!
