Flight Log 8: AM2441

Campeche (CPE) - Mexico City (MEX)

We boarded our Embraer RJ145 XA-ZAC by the steps and quickly took our seats; this time I was in 6A and Bruce in 7A. The door was closed at 1130 and the Captain made an announcement advising us that the expected flying time was 1hr 40mins and that we would be cruising at 34,000 feet. We moved forward off our stand just two minutes later, taxied to Runway 16 and became airborne at 1139. Shortly after crossing the Gulf coast, we spotted a few oil rigs far below.

The seat belt signs seemed to be staying on for a long time despite perfectly smooth flying conditions. We speculated that perhaps the flight crew were giving the cabin attendant a chance to complete the service run in peace. In fact, the signs were destined to remain illuminated for the entire flight. Once again, service was from the back and on this occasion I decided to have a Corona beer to accompany the inevitable bag of cracker peanuts.

There were good views of Mexico City on the approach and it was particularly easy to pick out Chapultepec Park. We touched down at 1312 and ten minutes later pulled onto stand at Gate 69, a proper gate equipped with an airbridge.
