Flight Log 5: PD512

Quebec City (YQB) - Toronto City (YTZ)

In complete contrast to the previous day, this flight had only a medium load and many of the seat pairs contained only one passenger. Sadly, mine was not one of them. After an unexplained late arrival of the inbound aircraft and a reasonably fast turnaround, we finally got moving at 1822 and took off seven minutes later from the shorter of the two available runways. We overflew the city and the river shortly after take-off.

Catering on this sector consisted of a cardboard food box containing a small chicken sandwich on pita bread, some rather nice potato salad and a Lindt chocolate. I drank white wine and coffee, as these seemed to go best with the various edible contents of the box. At one point, I reckoned that I was looking at the city and airport of Montreal, off to our left.

As we drew closer to Toronto City Airport over Lake Ontario, the steep dive in at the last moment reminded of the approach to London's City Airport. We touched down in the Toronto Islands at 1943, braked very sharply and made the short taxi to the terminal building.
