Flight Log 4: PD513

Toronto City (YTZ) - Quebec City (YQB)

On a day when I should have been on my way to Quebec City by 8:30am, we finally seemed to have completed boarding by 8:45pm, but it turned out that the frustration was not yet over: apparently we were still waiting for one passenger who was transferring from a newly-arrived inbound flight. The doors were finally closed at 2053. We left our stand three minutes later and were airborne a further six minutes after that, following a short and powerful take-off run.

12B was hardly my ideal choice of seat, but after cancellation of my original flight and a day of severe disruption, it was a case of being grateful that I was on board at all. The seat pitch seemed really generous - at least as good as intra-European Business Class. According to the in-flight magazine it was 34", but it seemed like more with the relatively thin seats.

I quickly noted that the seat belt signs seemed to be staying on for an inordinate length of time. In fact, they were destined to stay on for the entire flight, for no obvious reason. Refreshments are complimentary on Porter flights and the service got underway in due course. I had a still water with ice and some white wine, both of which were served in proper glasses. To accompany these I had a cranberry, raisin and oatmeal cookie and a bag of truly weird and not entirely pleasant Terra chips, which were multi-coloured and made from a variety of vegetables. The service was particularly friendly and I was offered a second helping of wine, this time in a plastic cup, during the clear-up run.

I was sitting across the aisle from a young female passenger who seemed to be peculiarly accident-prone, apparently caused by rushing at everything she went to do instead of pausing momentarily to think. Her various mishaps included spilling peanuts all over the floor, spilling hot tea over herself, dropping her phone, bumping her head on the overhead rack, letting something fall out of the overhead rack and somehow losing an item of clothing - in short, a walking disaster area. I dreaded the day that she would be entitled to drive a car.

We finally touched down in Quebec City at 2220 and quickly found our way to our allocated stand.
