This is: Amtrak Adventure 2019
There was no need for an early start today. We had a nice breakfast in the hotel and were ready to head out by 10am. We intercepted an out-of-town bus heading for Glenwood Springs and rode it for one or two of its final stops. This meant we were well placed to spend a couple of hours exploring both streets and combined cycleways / footpaths. Starting with the latter and focusing on the town's two rivers, it seemed just a little ironic when we found ourselves in Two Rivers Park: this appeared to be just a short distance from our hotel, albeit on the opposite bank of the Colorado River. Our route then took us to the historic Hotel Colorado and the adjacent Glenwood Hot Springs pool.
After that, we returned to the south bank and spent some time exploring Grand Avenue, the town's main street. Native Son bar and restaurant provided a convenient location for a refreshment stop. Eventually, we walked back to the hotel and chilled in the room until our negotiated late check-out time of 2pm.
When the time came, we again took a short bus ride into town to pick up the next leg of our California Zephyr itinerary. Once again, the train was late-running. (Click on Trains above and look at Train 4.)
Today ended on board the train, as we were on an overnight journey to Reno, Nevada, via Salt Lake City.
