Feb/Mar 2019: Madrid

I spent a night in the Spanish capital on either side of the year's first extended trip (Mexico 2019), using the InterContinental as my base for both stays. On both occasions I had the opportunity to walk around and rediscover some familiar city-centre sights in pleasant winter / early-spring sunshine. The two routes were:

February: Paseo de la Castellana, Plaza de Colón, Paseo de Recoletos, Calle de Alcalá, Plaza de la Independencia, Retiro Park, Calle del Alfonso XII, west to Paseo del Prado and north to return.

March: Opera, Royal Palace, Cathedral, Calle Mayor, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol.
