I decided at very short notice to spend a weekend in Chester - my second visit, following a gap of 24 years! Situated in the north-west of England, a very short distance from the Welsh border, it is one of the UK's heritage cities. Attractions include the most complete set of city walls in Britain, the unique 700 year-old double-deck shopping terraces known as The Rows, an attractive cathedral, a famous racecourse and the second most photographed clock in England!
Overall, the weather was disappointing for mid-summer, especially so for the journeys to and from Chester. I suppose I should be grateful that it played along reasonably well during the time that I had available for looking around!
