February 2009 : San Francisco
As Diamond Club awards allow free stopovers outside Europe and as I was routing through San Francisco, the option of adding a short break in one of my all-time favourite cities proved to be irresistible. Perfect winter weather (think low 20s Celsius / 70s Fahrenheit!), a cloudless sky, no crowds or queues for anything, a new hotel to try out and some spectacular sales at the shops all added up to make this an excellent extension to an already memorable trip.
