December 2006 : Venice

For the first time ever, this year I decided to squeeze in a quick trip between Christmas and New Year, my chosen destination being Venice. This was to be my third visit to the city and the first outside high season. On Wednesday and Friday, conditions were cold but otherwise perfect, with clear blue skies and a low winter sun to provide some welcome relief. On Thursday, however, the entire area was shrouded in freezing fog for most of the day. All in all, though, it was a very nice way to round off another year of intensive travel.
