London Heathrow (LHR) - Zurich (ZRH)
As per normal practice in SWISS short-haul business class, bottles of water and towelettes were distributed at the first convenient opportunity, and this was soon supplemented by the offer of newspapers. 'Boarding compete' was announced at 1704, and in this case I got the impression that it meant we were not prepared to wait any longer for some missing passengers. There were a mere 79 on board and I had the whole of Row 2 to myself! Pushback was at 1710 and we made our way towards Runway 27R, where I had landed earlier in the day. The Captain announced a five-minute hold, which in the event turned into something closer to ten minutes. We finally became airborne a full 24 minutes after leavng the gate, and it hadn't even been a lengthy taxi.
The seat belt signs were switched off fairly promptly, but then they came back on again over Kent when we encountered an area of turbulence. Service was from the back, as is usual on SWISS, but it hardly mattered with such a light load. My tray was soon placed in front of me, featuring a nicely presented light meal based on roast beef, with some cheese and a miniature dessert. I drank the Jacquart Champagne along with some still water and enjoyed the wonderfully friendly service as bread, top-up drinks, coffee and chocolates were all offered.
The routing was via Dover, Lille, Luxembourg and Basel before commencing our approach into Zurich. The flight seemed to be over far too quickly for my liking: I could have done with much more of this! We touched down at 1943 local time and a rapid taxi saw us parked at one of the non-Schengen remote stands just five minutes later.
