Flight 4 : BA2946

London Gatwick (LGW) - Edinburgh (EDI)

It was obvious even in the gate area that this was going to be a lightly-loaded flight. Once we got aboard, my suspicions were confirmed : the first eight rows had been blocked off and everybody was concentrated in the middle of the aircraft   We pushed back from the gate at 2046, but it took until 2102 to get airborne. Once the seatbelt signs had been switched off, my two seatmates both decided to move, so that everything turned out just fine for me from a comfort point of view   Amazingly, no-one else made any attempt to move

It was a standard shuttle evening meal. The main course was reminiscent of a small, Club Europe-style salad. This one consisted of chicken, lettuce, tomato, potato, onion, peppers and cranberry (?) sauce. A sachet of roast tomato dressing was supplied. Additionally, there was a good-sized, warm bread roll, a carton of water and some kind of chocolate dessert that I didn't touch. To wash it down, I had a refreshing apple juice and a cup of tea.

We approached EDI from the west, touching down at 2157 and making it to the stand for an on-schedule arrival at 2200.
