London Heathrow (LHR) - Edinburgh (EDI)
This was a routine short hop and was always going to be, but coming directly after my Singapore Suites experience, it just seemed so non-descript! By this stage in the very long day, however, I was too tired and jet-lagged to care; I just wanted to get home. Surprisingly, the small, three-row Business cabin was nearly full. Credit Crunch? What Credit Crunch?
We pushed back a couple of minutes early and taxied the short distance to 27R but, this being Heathrow, we had to wait for our turn to take off in a huge queue of departing aircraft. As we finally took up position on the runway, I noticed that my SQ A380 was two places behind us in the queue. I wondered what the load factor in Suites was like and who might now be occupying 2A and 3A. After another wait to give adequate spacing, we made our run and took off at 2125.
The meal boxes were distributed and I had chicken & pasta as my hot main course, supplemented by fresh apple pieces and grapes from the box. I drank diet Pepsi and coffee. Prior to arrival, there was a hot towels service, which I reckoned was No 7 of the day, except that this was one of those not-entirely-pleasant cheap rags.
Our approach to EDI was over the Forth and we managed a 2218 touchdown and 2221 arrival.
