This is: A Taste of the Deep South (2013)
London Heathrow (LHR) - Edinburgh (EDI)
Passengers were transported by bus for the very short journey to the aircraft, which was parked just around the north-east corner of Terminal 5 from the gate. Boarding was by steps to the rear door and I took the long walk forward to 9A. The initial seat allocations in the front cabin seemed crazy, with everyone crammed into the rear couple of rows. Cabin crew invited people to spread out a bit and use the available space. We pushed back two minutes ahead of schedule, made the long taxi to 27L and gained immediate entry to the runway. We left Heathrow behind at six minutes past the hour.
With the time change from the Eastern Seaboard of the USA acting in my favour, I was probably the only passenger on board not feeling tired. I had a tomato juice with all the usual additions, a coffee and two tiny bags of hand-cooked crisps. (In view of the light load and with this being the final flight of the day, the cabin crew were inviting passengers to help themselves to two snacks. Depending on your point of view, I was either unimaginative or mildly innovative in choosing two of the same thing.)
We took the West Lothian approach into my home airport, which was striking on this occasion in view of the fact that it was approaching 11pm and yet, with three weeks still to go before the summer solstice, it was not completely dark over Central Scotland!
