Flight Log 3: DL1752

Atlanta (ATL) - Savannah (SAV)

ABOVE: Delta MD-88 at Atlanta

Remarkably, this was my first-ever Delta flight. I was one of the first people to board, thanks to holding a Flying Blue gold card, and I quickly noticed two things: first, the aircraft had an attractive interior despite its age, and second, the seats in Economy Comfort (where I had managed to secure a place) had excellent legroom. All things considered, this seemed to be going rather well!

The flight time was announced as a mere 35 minutes to cover the 214 miles from Atlanta to Savannah. We pushed back precisely on schedule and as ever, this rear-engined aircraft struck me as being extraordinarily quiet from a passenger's perspective, even during the long taxi.

We finally became airborne at 1124, executing a steep climb that quickly had us into and then above the clouds. Very little happened during such a short hop, although the seat belt signs went off and then on again several times. There was no cabin service at all, except for a couple of garbage collection runs.

Feeling as though the flight had barely got underway, we touched down at our destination at 12 noon and, having left exactly on time, made a text-book arrival precisely on the scheduled time of 1207. It seemed like a short but smooth introduction to one of the world's largest airlines.
