This is: American Double 2014
Exactly in accordance with the forecast, today's weather was just terrible: a combination of heavy rain and cold was bringing autumn misery to my exposed location at the tip of Cape Cod. I had breakfast at the Crowne Pointe and went round to the Shui Spa at opening time to arrange a massage for later in the day. I then set out for what was intended to be a two-hour walk, which in the end was curtailed to a mere 45 minutes. I managed to take some reasonable photos by the dubious technique of holding an umbrella in one hand and my camera in the other.

Before returning to the hotel, I bought some food at a gas station so that I could have a light lunch in my room - the last thing I wanted before a massage was a bloated stomach. I went to the spa almost an hour before the appointed time of 3pm in order to sample the facilities and enjoy a soak in the hot tub. The only other visible customers were two women, who seemed to be spending the afternoon relaxing on loungers. My massage was carried out by a Polish masseur whose muscular build at first looked a little intimidating, but the experience turned out to be one of the best ever.
I relaxed for a while in my room afterwards, leaving the oil on my skin, and only went to the cheese & wine reception around 5:30pm, when the event was already halfway through. Dinner in the very quiet hotel restaurant consisted of a thoroughly appropriate New England clam chowder, followed by a nicely presented Crowne Pointe burger. Eavesdropping on a few conversations the previous day had revealed that some diners had driven significant distances to be there - always a good sign. It now looked as though today's poor weather had prompted such customers to decide, probably wisely, to stay at home.
